Who We Are and What We Do The Israel Association for the Advancement of Women's Health (IAAWH) is a voluntary organization established in 1994 by a group of social scientists and health professionals to address women's health needs in Israel. As a major contributor to women's health in Israel, IAAWH's message is positive and pro-active: not disease and illness, but health promotion and well-being. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of all women: Israeli Jewish, Muslim and Christian women, new and veteran immigrants, religious and secular, urban and rural, and women of all socioeconomic classes, ages, and sexual orientations.
Main objectives:
· To empower women with information and knowledge to make informed health choices.
· To educate practitioners about the unique health needs and concerns of women.
· To influence policy makers to allocate more resources for women's health in Israel.
To achieve these goals, the IAAWH gathers information and conducts seminars in order to learn more about women's health needs. We publish an informational web site in Hebrew, newsletters, research papers and policy analyses for health providers, activists, and consumers. We conduct training for community health workers and volunteers and develop programs for doctors and other health care professionals. We engage in extensive public education and consumer advocacy to help women make informed decisions about their health.
